The beginning of the journey of the honey "From Hive to You" is the beekeeper and his hive.
Hives have to be tendered regularly to ensure the health and strength of bees. Quality care ensures hives remain free of disease and vermin and the hive exists as a strong well organized community.

	Extraction


	The honey box is removed when frames in that box are capped, that is, they are ready for harvesting. Honey boxes are brought to the extraction room which contains large stainless steal drum extractors. Frames of honey are placed in extractors, after uncapping, to be gently spun. This process slowly drains the golden honey from the frames. The temperature of the room is kept at that of a warm summers day, approximately 35 degrees Celsius to enable the honey to flow freely from the frames.

	Filtering


	This is the maximum processing performed on our honey. Our Raw Honey does not undergo this process. Filtering is required because Bees are insects and they gather nectar from forests. During the gathering and extraction processes, material such as pollen, wax and floral matter can be gathered with the honey. The adjacent photo shows the filters used to remove this material from the honey.

	Packaging


	To ensure complete satisfaction and safety for our customer's product, all packaging is handled in a clean air room. This is a pristine environment free from dirt, insects and odours. All equipment the honey comes into contact with is stainless steel or approved food grade material. The design of the packing room and protocols followed by staff meet ANZFA criteria.



	Shipping

	The final step is the loading of the pallet of packaged honey onto the truck for delivery to the store for you. We only use quality approved transport suppliers to ensure our product arrives to you in pristine condition.
